Get Your Pet Adjusted to Regular Animal Chiropractic Care!

Whether your pet is a companion dog, service dog, police dog, agility dog, show dog, cat or horse, animal chiropractic care can greatly improve their health.

This complementary therapy is a HUGE preventative measure in our pet's health. It is part of a holistic family of healing therapies all aimed to optimize our pet's well-being as natural as possible, but is not intended to replace veterinary care.

The first question you may have is...

What is animal chiropractic care?

It is physical manipulation, or adjustments, to correct spinal or joint dysfunction with the purpose of aligning the body. Aligning the body restores the nervous system, flexibility and mobility.

Adjustments are done by applying a controlled, fast, push forward movement with the hands on the area that needs alignment.

Adjustments normally do not hurt. There maybe soreness the next day, which is normal.

Benefits Include

  • Efficient blood flow
  • Restores mobility and flexibility
  • Improves body posture
  • Pain relief from chronic conditions
  • Relief from physical or emotional stress or tension
  • Injury recovery

How I find a qualified animal chiropractor?

Start by asking your veterinarian. He or she may have a great referral. If not, ask them what the state requirements are to practice animal chiropractic care.

You can also find our your state requirements by going to American Association of Veterinary State Boards. From the website, I e-mailed for contact information to inquire on my state requirements and received an e-mail response back with the name, phone number and e-mail for me to contact.

Once you know your state requirements, go to American Veterinary Chiropractic Association to find an animal chiropractor in your area.

If you find there are a few in your area and you do not know which to choose from, call each one and talk to them. What is your gut feeling?

  • Ask them about their credentials and experience.
  • Let them know about your pet and what shape and condition your pet is in.
  • Inquire routine care: pricing, appointment length and what involvement will be expected of you at home.

What to expect on your visit

You will be asked about your you and your pet's history, any previous exams, results, any previous conditions and therapies used. Tell the practitioner as much as you know, so he or she can recommend the best treatment as possible.

The animal chiropractor will do a thorough exam of your pet. They will observe your pet's gait, posture, range of motion, musculoskeletal system and neurological issues.

This modality is effective for small and large animals. As you can see, this form of therapy is not just for humans!
