This holistic healing therapy is a form of Chinese Medicine that indicates your pet withholds an energy force called "qi" (pronounced chee) that travels within the body on paths called meridians. Meridians connect parts of the body together, such as muscles and organs. The points along the meridians are labeled by one or two letters and a number. The letter(s) pertains to the meridian the point is located and stands for the organ that dominates that pathway. The numbers calculate where the point lies on the meridian. For example, HT 7 means the 7th point on the heart meridian. How does it work? Your pet suffers from disease when a pathway is blocked. This technique helps remove that blockage by inserting thin, flexible needles under your pet's skin into their muscle and tissue. The needles hit certain points that stimulate chemicals produced by the brain called endorphins. This chemical has a calming and anesthetic effect on the body.
