I took my dog, Meika, to the vet after noticing the stiffness in her hind legs. She was walking awkward and dramatically slowed down anytime we went for a 1/2 - 1 mile walk or run, which concerned me because she is only 3 years old. The vet tested the range of flexibility in Meika's two hind legs. She yelped a little and I just wanted to cry. I did not like seeing her in that uncomfortable pain. My vet suggested that it maybe hip dysplasia. The way it was explained to me was hip dysplasia is a disease that affects the hip joints, specifically the ball-and-socket joint. She has been going once to twice a month. Her diet also includes glucosamine. Her energy has increased and she is a revitalized whole new dog! Now she can take long walks and runs with me.
